We are looking to hire 1 romance ghostwriter!
Except it's a bit of a twist! You're not ghostwriting a full romance book. Rather, you will be 'beefing' up an existing romance manuscript. These books are good, but YOUR job is to make them GREAT! (did someone say bestseller up in here?)
You will receive not only a finished manuscript, but a plot summary (with character breakdowns) and a fully detailed outline.
What do you do with this?
1. Improve the way that they talk, make it flow more 'naturally'. We don't need olde english or outdated speech in here.
2. Keep the characters (well) in character; make sure they don't stray from that.
3. Add dialogue where dialogue is needed. Remove dialogue where it's not needed. Fix and change dialogue. Do the same with descriptions and thoughts.
4. You're not an editor, so you don't worry about grammer, spelling, developmental stuff; your job is to see if something looks/feels wrong and remove/fix it.
5. Beef up the spicy scenes (make them hot)!
We know that this isn't really a job you can have EXPERIENCE with it, so we're just looking for some experienced ghostwriters. Please make sure to attach your samples; if you don't, you will not be considered for this job.
You must know the ins and outs of romance books and what readers are looking for.
You must be familiar with several different subgenres of romance (and comfortable with steamy scenes). We do a lot of contemporary, dark contemporary, paranormal, hockey, and mafia!
Now, what everyone cares about most, THE PAY!
Since you're not writing a complete romance book, the pay may look a bit weird to you. In all actuality, you shouldn't have to add more than 10k words to any book, IF THAT!
So we pay between $280-$420 per book depending on the length. That means this position pays $0.028 - $0.042 per word and you're like a ghostwriter/beta reader!
