NETGEAR is looking for a Senior Mobile Application Developer to drive the development of our mobile clients (iOS and Android) for a next-generation security platform. In this role, you will design and build secure, performant, and user-friendly mobile applications that enable access to critical cybersecurity features, including Secure Access Service Edge (SASE), VPN, Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), and other advanced network security capabilities.
As a Senior Mobile Application developer, you will work closely with backend, security, and product teams to deliver a seamless mobile experience integrated with NETGEAR’s security solutions. You will play a key role in ensuring that our mobile apps meet high standards for security, usability, and performance across both platforms.
This is a hybrid role, expected to be onsite 3 days a week in our Bangalore Office.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain mobile applications for Netgear’s Security platform on iOS and Android.
Implement secure networking features such as VPN connectivity, secure tunneling, and ZTNA access using native platform capabilities (e.g., iOS Network Extension, Android VpnService) and VPN protocols like IPSec or WireGuard.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including backend engineers, product managers, UX/UI designers, and QA to define and implement features.
Ensure mobile applications follow security best practices, protect user data, and comply with platform guidelines (App Store and Google Play).
Write clean, modular, and testable code, and contribute to automated testing and CI/CD pipelines.
Conduct code reviews, provide mentorship, and uphold high engineering standards.
Stay up to date with the latest trends in mobile development and mobile cybersecurity.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
5~8 years of professional experience in mobile application development, with a strong track record on iOS (Swift/Objective-C), Android (Kotlin/Java), or both.
Hands-on experience with native networking frameworks such as iOS Network Extension and/or Android VpnService; familiarity with VPN protocols such as IPSec or WireGuard is a strong plus.
Proven experience with App Store and Google Play deployment processes, including provisioning, certificate management, release automation, beta testing (e.g., TestFlight), and platform compliance.
Experience developing reusable or cross-platform components using technologies like Kotlin Multiplatform, Flutter, or React Native, particularly in security-sensitive environments.
Strong understanding of mobile security best practices, including data encryption, secure storage, and secure communication protocols.
Familiarity with core network technologies and protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, TLS/SSL, and HTTPS within the mobile application context.
Experience integrating mobile apps with backend APIs and working within distributed system architectures.
Proficient in debugging, profiling, and optimizing performance for mobile applications on both platforms.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working in cross-functional and agile development environments.
Preferred Qualifications (optional):
Familiarity with enterprise mobility solutions, including Mobile Device Management (MDM), Mobile Application Management (MAM), and enterprise app distribution models.
Hands-on experience with mobile CI/CD pipelines and automated testing tools (e.g., Bitrise, GitHub Actions, Fastlane, Jenkins), as well as mobile testing frameworks like XCTest and Espresso. Familiarity with monitoring, crash reporting, and analytics platforms such as Firebase Crashlytics, Sentry, Microsoft App Center, and Xcode Organizer for diagnostics and performance tracking on iOS.
