Position Summary
The Electrician Lead – Electrical – National Industrial is a working field leader responsible for installing, testing, and troubleshooting electrical systems while leading and coordinating a small crew of journeymen, apprentices, and helpers. This role partners closely with the Foreman to plan daily work, coordinate materials, and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with GEMCO quality standards and project schedules.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties
- Lead daily work planning for crews of approximately two to six electricians, apprentices, and helpers
- Assign tasks, verify installations, and communicate progress, issues, and needs to the Foreman
- Perform and oversee electrical work from rough-in through finish, including conduit installation, wire pulls, terminations, gear setting, and device installation
- Read and interpret drawings, one-line diagrams, and specifications to lay out work areas accurately
- Plan ahead for material, tool, and equipment needs and coordinate requests with the Foreman
- Inspect completed work and conduct testing to ensure code compliance and GEMCO standards
- Document inspections, testing results, and corrective actions as required
- Coach, mentor, and train apprentices and helpers to support skill development and productivity
- Enforce all safety rules and stop work when unsafe conditions are observed
- Coordinate with other trades and site supervision to resolve conflicts and maintain project schedules
- Support quality control activities, punch list completion, and start-up assistance as assigned
