- Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation, as required by the district and state regulations
Essential Qualifications
To be eligible for this position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Holders of a regular teaching certificate issued by the New Jersey Department of Education can qualify as a substitute teacher
- Holders of out-of-state teacher certificates generally fulfill substitute credential requirements
- Those not holding a teaching certificate must procure a Substitute Credential valid for day-to-day teaching, not to exceed twenty (20) days in one position
- Applicants must complete the online application process and provide required documentation, including two forms of identification, copies of certificates or credentials, and proof of a negative Mantoux (TB) test dated within six months of their first date of employment
- Applicants must also undergo a criminal history background check conducted by the Criminal History Review Unit of the New Jersey Department of Education
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:
- Experience working in education or healthcare, particularly in a substitute teaching or nursing role
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
