Position Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced and passionate Substitute Teacher - Elementary School to join our team in Newark, NJ. As a substitute teacher with Scoot Education, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on teaching experience on your own schedule. We offer the highest pay rates among substitute providers, with up to $190 for day-to-day assignments and more for long-term assignments. Our goal is to provide you with the tools and support you need to excel in the classroom and make a positive impact on the lives of your students.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach a variety of subjects to elementary school students, including math, science, English, and social studies
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to the needs of diverse learners
- Manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive learning environment
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff
- Be flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced educational setting
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge
Essential Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits
- Three professional references with one by a previous direct supervisor
- NJ Substitute Credential
- Background check & TB risk assessment (we'll cover the cost of this)
- Full COVID-19 vaccination
- A passion for education and putting students first

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with elementary school students
- Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation
