Key Responsibilities
As an Associate Merchant, you will have a significant impact on our business by:
- Setting the category strategy: establishing the framework, managing budgets to drive profitable growth, and using vision and creativity to impact the customer experience
- Building relationships: utilizing your influencing and leadership skills to build partnerships with suppliers, vendors, colleagues, and other Associate Merchants
- Making informed decisions: making decisions about virtually every aspect of your products, including renewal, supply chain, manufacturers, store operations, planning, assortment, designs, budgets, metrics, and pricing
- Planning, developing, and launching products: working with our Product Development and Sourcing team to create new products for Private Brands
- Understanding your category: knowing your customers and suppliers better than anyone and continuously thinking about what's next for your business
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A bachelor's degree or 2 years of experience in marketing, buying, financial planning, operations, or a related area
- Proficient judgment throughout your recommendations, decisions, need setting, and analysis of progress and valuable business opportunities
- A focus on performance and results, as demonstrated by your pursuit of achieving performance targets
- The ability to anticipate and improve the performance of your category
- Flexibility and adaptability, showing creativity and resilience in the face of challenges
- Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to build trusting, collaborative, and cross-functional relationships
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following skills and experiences are preferred:
- Microsoft Office skills
- Experience with negotiating with third-party suppliers
- Knowledge of pricing, site marketing, planning, or inventory, or related areas
