About the Role: Data Scientist, Business Analytics
The Business Examination group at Tesla is at the forefront of empowering an information-driven business, creating value from our vast data resources. As a Data Scientist in this group, you will play a pivotal role in driving business process automations and supporting sales and service procedures by leveraging our data. This is a unique opportunity to work closely with business leaders across various functions, including brick and mortar stores and executive teams, to deliver actionable insights that drive business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to all phases of data science projects, from interpreting complex business issues into data science problems to performing data analysis and modeling, and providing solutions to the business.
- Develop and maintain complex data pipelines to support the team's mission of democratizing data and enabling a data-driven organization, collaborating with Information Analysts, Information Designers, AI/ML Specialists, and Product Directors.
- Effectively communicate significant insights to all levels of the organization, tailoring your message to varying levels of data science understanding and backgrounds.
- Collaborate closely with leadership, engineering, and other stakeholders to deliver significant business insights.
- Apply various ML, advanced analytics, and visualization techniques to diverse datasets across the organization.
Essential Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you should possess:
- A Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Business Analysis, Operations Research, Statistics, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Economics, or Engineering).
- 2+ years of equivalent experience in a quantitative field, with a proven track record of delivering results-driven data science projects.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the organization.
- A demonstrated history of extracting data insights and building ML models, particularly in the business analytics domain.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python, with expertise in standard data science libraries and frameworks such as pandas, numpy, scikit-learn, Tensorflow/PyTorch, PySpark, etc.
- Experience with at least one visualization tool, such as Tableau, Streamlit, etc.
- Mastery in data wrangling and analyzing massive and complex datasets, both structured and unstructured.
- The ability to self-start and work independently in an unstructured environment, navigating ambiguity and bringing structure to complex problems.
- Excellent problem formulation, problem-solving, and project management skills, with the ability to pivot quickly when needed.
- The capacity to manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
While not mandatory, having experience in areas such as forecasting, predictive modeling, descriptive analytics, or Natural Language Processing (NLP) can be a significant plus. The ability to uplevel the team's ML capabilities in one or more of these areas will be highly regarded.
