The Role of a College Admissions Coach
As a College Admissions Coach at Winning Ivy Prep, you will play a vital role in guiding high school students (grades 9-12) through the college admissions process. Your expertise and support will help students build a strong foundation for their future academic success. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing College Applications: Guide students through every step of their college application process, ensuring all materials are completed accurately and on time.
- Liaising with Families: Maintain open communication with parents, keeping them informed and involved in their child's progress while managing expectations.
- Developing Strategies: Help students in 9th-11th grade explore and select majors and extracurricular activities that align with their strengths and aspirations.
- Ensuring Accountability: Keep students on track toward their academic and personal goals, ensuring they remain focused and committed.
- Meeting with Students & Parents: Provide personalized guidance in online meetings with students and/or parents.
What We're Looking For
To succeed as a College Admissions Coach at Winning Ivy Prep, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:
Essential Qualifications:
- Education: Undergraduate or graduate degree from a top 25 US university (Ivy League, Stanford, MIT, etc.).
- Experience: At least 2-3 years of experience since graduating from undergrad or currently in a graduate program.
- Availability: A minimum of 10-15 hours per week, with availability to meet during after-school hours (PST). We prefer candidates looking for a long-term commitment.
Key Skills and Competencies:
- Strong Communication Skills: Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with the ability to craft clear and compelling messages for students and parents.
- Interpersonal Skills: The ability to connect with teenagers, earn their trust, keep them motivated, and provide thoughtful, constructive feedback on college applications. You should also be comfortable connecting with their parents in a professional manner.
