Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Database Administrator II to join our team. As a Database Administrator II, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our database systems, ensuring high availability, security, and performance. Key Responsibilities
- Investigate and resolve daily database and application issues, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal system performance
- Play a key role in the documentation of existing systems and procedures, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as needed
- Assist in the design, implementation, and support of policies and procedures for monitoring, scope management, maintenance, backups, and recovery
- Support multiple databases in development, staging, and production environments in local and remote server farms
- Configure and maintain high-availability for SQL Server, including clustering, replication, and mirroring
- Support application teams and resolve database-related issues, ensuring timely and effective communication
- Install server-based application software in collaboration with system administrators
- Install and manage new software, updates, and patches, ensuring compatibility and minimal disruption to services
- Develop and implement best practices for stored procedures, triggers, packages, tables, and views, ensuring optimal database performance and security
- Optimize database performance by analyzing and tuning stored procedures, creating indexes and views, and implementing other optimization techniques as needed
- Design and maintain enterprise ETL processes using various ETL tools, including SSIS, .NET scripting, and T-SQL
- Perform database maintenance tasks and generate system reports, ensuring data integrity and compliance with organizational policies
- Create and implement security models, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of sensitive data
- Participate in application development cycles to ensure good database design and access strategies
- Plan, prepare, and test backup and recovery procedures for all production databases, ensuring business continuity and minimal data loss
- Monitor databases for performance and periodically reorganize databases for optimal performance during scheduled downtime
- Create documentation and control tuning parameters as needed to optimize performance
- Calculate volumetric conditions to estimate new database sizes and plan accordingly for growth
- Communicate plans to system administrators and other stakeholders, ensuring effective collaboration and coordination
- Be responsible for the security of database systems and all business/logical applications associated with it, including creating and maintaining database and application accounts, application/database patching, and database/application security scanning
- Perform item checking for performance and health, participating in load test activities as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to adapt to changing priorities and requirements
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, demonstrating a strong foundation in computer systems and software development
- Strong knowledge of client-server technology, with a focus on SQL Server and related tools
- Working knowledge of SQL Server, including database design, development, and administration
- 5+ years of experience as a SQL DBA in enterprise, multi-site SQL Server environments, demonstrating expertise in database administration and a strong understanding of business requirements
- Intermediate to advanced skills with SSIS and T-SQL, with experience in designing and implementing ETL processes and database solutions
- Effective written and oral communication skills, as well as organizational and interpersonal skills, demonstrating the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Willingness and demonstrated ability to provide the highest level of customer service, ensuring timely and effective support for application teams and other stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft Azure Technologies and deploying databases into cloud environments, demonstrating a strong understanding of cloud computing and its applications
- Experience with Reporting Services (SSRS) and Analysis Services (SSAS), demonstrating expertise in business intelligence and data analytics
- Experience with .NET scripting (C# or VB.NET) and/or PowerShell, demonstrating a strong foundation in programming and scripting languages
- Experience in the Automotive Industry, demonstrating a strong understanding of business requirements and industry-specific challenges
- Experience with CRM systems, demonstrating expertise in customer relationship management and sales force automation
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong math and algebra skills, demonstrating a strong foundation in mathematical concepts and problem-solving techniques
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve applications that work with databases, demonstrating expertise in database administration and a strong understanding of business requirements
