About the Role: Substitute Teacher in Kearny, NJ

We're seeking an experienced and passionate Substitute Teacher to join our team in Kearny, NJ. As a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you'll have the flexibility to choose your assignments and work on your own schedule. Key Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality instruction and support to students in the absence of their regular teacher
• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans, ensuring continuity of learning
• Manage classroom behavior and create a positive learning environment
• Communicate effectively with school staff, parents, and students
• Participate in 1:1 check-ins with your Scoot consultant to discuss school feedback and develop your skills
• Be available for day-to-day and long-term assignments, with opportunities for varied and challenging experiences

Essential Qualifications:

• Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits
• NJ Substitute Credential
• Background check & TB risk assessment (we'll cover the cost of this!)
• Full COVID-19 vaccination
• Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor
• A passion for education and putting students first
• An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience as a Substitute Teacher or in a related educational role
• Special education or subject-specific expertise (e.g., Math, Science, English, etc.)
• Experience working with diverse student populations and age groups (Kinder, Early Years, Elementary, Middle, High School)
