Key Responsibilities – What Your Day Will Look Like
As a Reading Tutor stationed in one of the Emmet County locations (Alanson, Harbor Springs, Pellston, or East Jordan), you will be the frontline of our literacy initiative. Your primary responsibilities include:
- One‑on‑One Instruction: Deliver 1‑hour individualized tutoring sessions to 4–6 students per day, focusing on phonemic awareness, decoding, fluency, and comprehension.
- Curriculum Implementation: Follow the FAST curriculum guidelines, adapting lessons to match each student’s reading level and learning style.
- Progress Monitoring: Administer pre‑tutoring and post‑tutoring assessments, record data accurately, and share insights with the Program Manager to track growth.
- Data Reporting: Submit weekly logs, timesheets, and performance reports promptly, ensuring transparency and accountability.
- Collaboration with Program Staff: Coordinate with the Program Manager and Lead Tutor to schedule sessions, align instructional goals, and troubleshoot any challenges.
- Professional Development: Participate in a paid, week‑long FAST training program, mastering instructional techniques and assessment tools.

- Commitment to On‑Site Work: Availability to work in person at one of the designated Emmet County locations; remote work is not an option for this role.
- Transportation: Reliable personal vehicle to travel between sites and attend training sessions.

- Minimum Experience: At least one year of tutoring, teaching, or related instructional experience, preferably with elementary or middle‑school learners.
- Scheduling Flexibility: Ability to work a 7‑hour day within the 8 am – 4 pm window, with options such as 8‑3 or 9‑4.
- Legal Eligibility: Must be authorized to work in the United States and pass any required background checks.
