Job Description:
Project Kuiper is an ambitious venture that relies on novel satellite designs and ground capabilities to provide elite performance support to end-users. As a Software Development Engineer, you will focus on the Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) systems that enable our satellites to operate efficiently and safely. Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing real-time, embedded software that flies the satellite
- Creating ground-based applications that predict orbital state, monitor for potential collisions, and optimize maneuvers
- Designing and testing high-fidelity modeling and simulation software
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate and test satellite systems
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and test software systems that control and navigate our satellites
- Collaborate with engineers to create innovative solutions that push the boundaries of space technology
- Participate in the development of novel satellite designs and ground capabilities
Essential Qualifications:
- 3+ years of non-entry-level professional software development experience
- 3+ years of non-entry-level design or architecture experience (design patterns, reliability, and scaling)
- Experience programming with at least one programming language
- 3+ years of experience with embedded systems, feedback control systems, or real-time software
- Experience with design patterns, data structures, and test-driven development
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
- Experience with interdisciplinary developments that involve hardware, software, and algorithm co-design and verification
- Ability to work with real-time systems, embedded Linux with real-time extensions, systems programming, concurrency, and scheduling
