The Staff Accountant I supports day-to-day accounting functions with a focus on transactional accuracy and learning firm-specific processes, preparing financial data, and maintaining accurate project and company records.
Responsibilities
- Complete basic project setups in alignment with contract terms
- Partner with Project Managers to ensure accurate processing and timely invoicing
- Prepare and process monthly client invoices
- Monitor project accounts receivable and escalate discrepancies
- Assist with maintaining project financial records
- Maintain compliance with internal controls and company policies
- Enter accounts payable, code invoices, process payments, and perform reconciliations
- Post daily cash receipts and clear bank activity in Deltek Vantagepoint
- Generate routine reports and respond to internal and external inquiries
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail by reviewing work for accuracy, consistency, and quality
- Maintain effective organizational systems to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and priorities efficiently
- Utilize strong analytical and communication skills to support decision-making and collaborate effectively across teams
- Perform other duties as assigned
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is required
- 0-2 years of experience is preferred
- Computer skills necessary to enter daily timesheet data and use Microsoft Outlook for email correspondence
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- A/E industry experience is preferred
- Basic understanding of GAAP and project accounting principles is preferred
- Familiarity with accounting software, Deltek is preferred
