About the Role: Patient Access Representative

As a Patient Access Representative, you will be the primary patient contact for registration, benefits verification, and authorization, playing a critical role in ensuring seamless patient intake and care coordination. This part-time position offers flexible evening and night shifts, allowing you to balance your work and personal life while making a meaningful contribution to our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as the primary patient contact for registration, benefits verification, and authorization, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring accurate patient information.
• Integrate registration, benefits verification, payer authorization, and payment arrangements to facilitate smooth patient intake and care coordination.
• Assess patients' financial needs, provide insurance and financial guidance, and advise on payment options and available Carilion and community assistance programs.
• Monitor work queues and reports to ensure accurate and timely completion of insurance, demographic, and eligibility information.
• Obtain patient signatures on required documents and maintain accurate records.
• Collaborate with patients, physicians, office staff, facilities, service lines, and external agencies to resolve issues and address concerns.

Essential Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Registration and/or previous insurance experience preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, basic keyboarding, and PC skills.
• Strong organizational and professional communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and maintain a high level of productivity in a remote work environment.
• BLS certification required within the first year of employment and maintained throughout employment.
• PAS Medical Terminology course completion and certification required during the first year of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in patient access or a related field.
• Familiarity with healthcare operations and patient registration processes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
