Key Responsibilities
- Provide reading and writing intervention to students in small group settings, pushing into regular classrooms or co-teaching with classroom teachers.
- Meet and instruct assigned classes in designated locations and times, both individually and collaboratively.
- Complete and submit forms and required reports in a timely manner, maintaining accurate and complete records.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and other educational concerns.
- Participate as a member of IEP teams, 504 teams, or other student assistance teams as requested.
- Plan and implement a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of all students using data-driven decision-making.
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of all students.
- Assess student accomplishments on a regular basis, providing progress reports as required.
- Evaluate student learning problems, seeking assistance from District specialists as needed.
- Maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment, taking necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Collaborate with administrators, colleagues, and parents in a positive and productive manner.
- Strive to implement the District's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
Qualifications and Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Missouri teacher certificate in elementary (1-6) or Early Childhood (B-3).
Preferred Qualifications
- Special reading certification or ability to obtain provisional certificate in special reading while working towards full certification.
- Successful teaching experience in primary grades.
- Professional and friendly demeanor with a demonstrated ability to work well with a variety of individuals in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Skills and Competencies
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, Board policy, administrative procedures, and governmental regulations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present information effectively and respond to questions.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts, such as probability and statistical inference, and analyze data for instruction.
- Knowledge of current educational theory and instructional techniques, with the ability to adapt instructional methods to meet individual student needs.
- Proficiency in integrating technology into daily instruction, including the use of district software, smart boards, and other instructional technology.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, and parents.
